The Right Choice for More Choice

Our Own
Proud son of a 30-year school teacher.
Lifelong resident of our district.
Former student who walked our halls.
Keeping our schools secure is a top priority. Whether tackling the shortage of crossing guards or working with School Resource Officers, Donovan will partner with local law enforcement to ensure they have the resources needed to keep our students safe.
Growing up as a student in Duval County, school choice wasn’t widely available for those who might’ve benefited from it. Donovan was lucky enough to attend great schools outside of his designated zone because his mother was a teacher. He got to see firsthand how access to the right school can shape a student’s success. Donovan will lean on his personal experience as a Duval County student to make certain parents have options when it comes to their child’s education.
Donovan will advocate for the Advanced Internship Program (AIP) that allows juniors and seniors to participate in paid, credit-bearing internships that count toward Career and Technical Education coursework. He will also work to expand it, so every student has career-building opportunities that prepare them for a successful future.
Donovan has seen firsthand the challenges his mother has faced as an educator and understands that teacher retention is closely tied to respect, support, and opportunities for growth. He will focus on eliminating needless bureaucracy, providing teachers with more resources, and giving them the freedom they need to inspire the next generation. Donovan will help to keep strong teachers in our classrooms by putting the focus back on student learning.
